My First Trip to Market Basket and a trip to Star Market...

Total for Market Basket and Shaws: $3.42

So I decided before I have to leave for a business trip that I would take advantage of getting some deals!

I took my first trip to Market Basket (the one in Somerville, MA) . It was a bit scary. There were people EVERYWHERE and you could barely move in the aisles. However they did have what I want and didn't give me coupon problems...two huge pluses. I got 7 - 4 packs of the Marcal small steps toilet paper for FREE!!!

(I had 7 coupons for a free product up to $1 or $1 off a marcal small steps product, and they are $.89 at Market Basket)

Then we went to Star Market on the way home to see if they had the Carolina Rice packets that are not all saffron! We got 5 wild rice and 5 rice pilaf. We also got 8 Bounty trial size paper towels and a bag of snikiddy cheese puffs. It was $3.42 total!

(the carolina rices were on sale at 3/$2, and I had 5 Coupons for $.75 off 2, which doubled making it a $.84 money maker, we had a coupon for free snikiddity product, and the paper towels were $1 each and I used $1 off 2 bounty coupons)

All in all a pretty good trip!!!

The items listed below that are not in the picture are on the Cape with my Mom and Dad, so I got even more for my money! (Missing from picture are the Accu-check, 2 razors, 1 razor refill, dish detergent, 2 welches cran juice)

My Harrowing Trip to Target

This morning I saw this post about the sale priced LeapFrog Tag Reader Systems on hip2save. I immediately brushed my teeth and flew like a bat out of hell to Target.

Now let me explain why going to Target is such a big deal....

I hate the Target that is closest to me. The cashiers are rude, the people are rude, i have to drive through crazy city traffic to get there, and the shopping center it is in is a mess. Today was no different.

So as i drive I am praying that there be one of these things there. My niece's 4th birthday is coming up and this is the perfect thing.

I get there and I all but jog to the toy section (because so many other people must know of this awesome-ness...lol) and there are not any of the ones on sale. I almost cried.

So here I am standing in front of the leapfrog display, hating all the new full priced boxes and then see something weird. The last box on the shelf looks different. It is hidden behind all the full priced ones, but as I pull it up I see that it is in fact...duh duh duh...DIFFERENT!

So I run to the price check, hate all the children who don't understand lines and cut in front of me, and then FINALLY see that it is in fact what I wanted! The $12.48 LeapFrog Tag Reader System. And yes friends, I did have a coupon...a $10 off coupon!

I also bought a full priced book in my glee of getting the $2.49 reader. I got her a Disney Ariel book at $15.34, but hey, it is sill an amazing savings. For the book and reader it cost me $18.99. The new ones that come with the Cat in the Hat book are $49.99 (or $39.99) after the coupon, so I saved at least $21, and I got to pick out a book she would like more.

All in all not a bad trip in my mind :)

Organizing and Organizing...

So I am going away for 9/13-9/25 for my new job and one of the thing I felt like I needed to get done before I left was to organize my closets. This has become even more urgent since I started having a love affair with CVS, dating Shaws and having a casual fling with Stop and Shop. Oh how I have become addicted to the deals.

I wish I had taken before pictures, because the kitchen closet used to be literally stacked floors to ceiling with bubble wrap and boxes and rocks and stuff (literally...I have a ton of rocks) from when we were doing terrariums. But look how lovely and pantry-ish it is now!!! I never thought living in the city that we could have a pantry.

The bags on the bottom are for my mom...They are not a permanent fixture.

I also cleaned the linen closet that was FILLED with crap. I had old makeup I bought in 2000 in there. I know, pathetic... but with some time and effort and a trash bag I transformed it into this...

And what is the best part of all of this? The organization and knowing where everything is? No, it is having room to bring home more stuff!

It's official - I am in love with CVS!

Ok, so CVS used to be a place I avoided. All i ever did was walk out of there with a tiny bag of stuff and about $10-20 less in my pocket. Not really a good time if you ask me...

Now CVS is a magical land where things are free!

Here is what I got at CVS today! (I use my mom's CVS card and my own so it is double the fun :) )

Transaction 1 - On my card, had the lovely boyfriend do this to expedite the time.

2 Reese's Cups - .89 each
2 Twix - .67 each
1 Glade Reed Diffuser - 6.99
1 Dawn Detergent - .97
Total = 11.08
Less:
2 coupons for Reese's - .55 off 1

1 coupon for the glade diffuser - $2 off 1
1 coupon for the Dawn - .20 off 1
Total after coupons= 6.79
Less $6 in extra care bucks (ECBs) from the other day
Total with Tax = .90

And I got 6.99 in ECBs for the next time I go...so if you work it out it is like i made $.09!!

Transaction 2 - On my Mom's Card
2 Glade Scented Oil Candle Holders - .3.49 each
2 Candle Refills for Candle Holders- 4.39 each
1 Glade Soy Candle - 6.99
1 2 oz. Glade Soy Candle - 3.29
1 Dawn Detergent - .97
1 gallon Milk - 2.89
Total = 29.90
Less:
5 off a purchase of $25
2 coupons for the candle holders - $2 off each
2 coupons for the candle refills- Buy a candle holder get a refill free
1 coupon for the glade Soy Candle- $2 off 1
1 coupon for the Dawn - .20 off 1
I coupon for the 2 oz soy candle - 1 free candle.
Total after coupons = 6.63
Less $6 in extra care bucks (ECBs) from the other day
Total with Tax = .66

And I got 6.99 in ECBs for the next time I go...so if you work it out it is like i made $.33!!

Yay for CVS!!!

The Start of the Madness!

How much do you think this all cost??

Here is a breakdown of what is in this picture:

31 Boxes of cereal
26 cups of easy mac
6 boxes of kleenex
1 3-pack of ziploc containers
1 4-pack of ziploc containers
3 boxes of pop tarts (the 12 count ones)
3 Squeeze tubes of Mayo
5 bags of starbucks coffee
3 bags hefty styrofoam plates (5 count)
2 packs of morning star veggie burgers
1 wheat thins
1 ritz
1 pair phillips head phones

Total Items: 84

After coupons, and factoring in the $15 i have in coupons to spend on anything at shaws within 2 weeks, and the fact my mom is giving me $5 for all the easy mac... once I get my rebates back in the mail this all cost me $1.63 (which if you ask me makes most of this stuff FREE! lol!)

Pretty amazing, huh!
